A mobile acoustic pump sets system can be defined as a system that comprises of pump and engine that is installed on a skid base that can easily locate from one location to another. It is also designed to be low noise with maximum decibel of 85dBa from one meter distance.
In Malaysia , Department of Irrigation and Drainage Malaysia (DID ) together with their state department is responsible to manage and control all cases related to the flood events. One of the important aspect in flood mitigation study is the post – flood period. This is the period when most of the excess water has already reduce to the normal water level. However, during this period, some area could be resulted in different outcome because of the phenomena named Stagnant Flood or popularly known as Banjir Termenung.

The mobile acoustic pump set is comprising of several major components that includes; :- A set of water transfer system comprises of self-priming end suction pump, diesel engine, and all related accessories enclosed in an acoustic canopy. that is installed on a mobilize trailer.
- A set of trailer to carry acoustic canopy enclosure for mobilization of water pump sets.
- A set of rubber suction hose, lay flat hose quick couplings to use for suction and discharging the water
The usage of “self-priming” centrifugal pump is to overcome the problem of air binding by mixing air with water to create a fluid with pumping properties much like those of regular water. The pump then gets rid of the air and moves water only, just like a standard centrifugal pump.
This type of pump differs from a standard centrifugal pump in that it has a water reservoir built into the unit which enables it to rid pump and suction line of air by recirculating water within the pump on priming cycle. This water reservoir may be above the impeller or in front of the impeller. In either case, the “self-priming” capability of the pump comes from the pump’s ability to retain water after the very first prime.
